Great work for Swifts in Southsea

Just a quick update on the wooden boxes that Dave Warner has installed on and near his home in Southsea over the last few years. Dave tells me that he now has more boxes occupied than ever before with nine pairs rearing 18 young on his house alone!

Dear BTO, no sign of insect decline being the cause of the catastrophic decline of Swifts. Hint – it’s actually loss of nesting sites that is the major cause. Lots more Citizen Science to follow…
